I agree with the reviewer – great food and nice people. I live just two blocks away and always try to support my local businesses. It doesn’t really matter if you’re trying to be cool or not, the food at Thompson’s is good and the proprietor’s deserve as much local community support as possible. I support local over a chain anyday, and with all the changes coming to the neighborhood we should all try to keep Thompson’s going strong.

I’ll stick with The Kingfish Café on 19th & Mercer…great atmosphere and crowd and the food is excellent soul food. I just wish they’d never chucked their baked beans for the collards. ugh.

Brilliant observation, eddie! Clearly the only reason Rachel went to Thompson’s was so she could write a blog post in the hopes that people like you would think she’s “cool”. But you saw right through her didn’t you! Wow. If only I could be so perceptive.

Thanks for the review. I’ve heard good things about Thompson’s from others as well. My wife being vegetarian, it may be difficult for me to get her to go there with me. Maybe I’ll go it alone someday. BTW, from what I’ve heard, the new “drop-in center” across the street in the old pharmacy space isn’t going to be occupied by police all the time, but rather it’ll be a place for patrols to stop in, get a break, and maybe write up a report without having to go all the way back to the precinct. I think the idea is that it’ll enable them to be in the area more, but they won’t actually be sitting in there monitoring the intersection 24-7.
