A lot of this material is new to me. Therefore I am learning a lot of new and interesting stuff, analyzing opinions and picking through information is great.

Whether or not anything is done by my hands because of it is irrelevant.

Information / knowledge changes minds and therefore changes the world around us merely by being used when decisions are made whether directly or indirectly.

"The only true multi-medium remains the human organism itself." Mr. McLuhan also said that every medium that humans create is an extension of some already existing human faculty. The wheel is an extension of the foot. What is the internet, and its blogs, an extension of?

The bulletin board? The busy coffee shop swarming with conversations, some inane and others enlightening? The scribbling on a bathroom stall at some dive bar?

Personally, I think it's more like a collective brain, hyperactive and crowded, but every now and then a piece of information comes shining through that gets me off my ass and forces me to look at the city in a different light.

I am 29 years old. I work in a grocery store in West Seattle.

Nuts, my first comment must have been discarded because I put in a link to my
flickr page. Anyway, I gather that you mean Stop (Just) Reading and Start
Contributing.

I'm a geek and so I've been online a fairly long time, so it's easy to learn more about me if you want... the best place to start is probably my blogger
profile linked to 'joshuadf' above. But it's not like we're going to all have everything in common, so what you probably want to know is that I'm very
intrigued by Seattle's hugeass wish and I'm obsessed with a lot of urbanish things like walkability, family urban living, transit, zoning, etc.

As for meetups, I don't live on Beacon Hill and have a young family which makes scheduling that sort of thing difficult, but if you put it on meetup.com I bet
people would show up.

While we're on the subject of books on a blog that frequently mentions great buildings, I have a suggestion: The Fountainhead.
