Hi

My family and I are at the beach and I have been trying to show them your blog, but I hadn't bookmarked it before we left home and therefore it took me FOREVER to find it using Yahoo .

Now that I have found it, the reason why I wanted to show them, is I think that you and I are in competition with our blogs.

I am convinced there are enough people in the world to where we can both survive, but I wanted you to know what I am using to get fresh content while I am on vacation as it is only fair. Check this out!

Take care and I look forward to the continued competition when I return home!!

Huh? We should actually raise a tax on jobs, thus disincentivizing people from locating jobs in Seattle . . . to (in part) deal with unemployment "at a time our state's unemployment rate has increased to 9.2%"?

I think the tax is an unnecessary annoyance to businesses. What business really wants to spend time figuring out and documenting and archiving their workers chosen commute for tax purposes? What business wants the annoyance of another tax they have to worry about getting done correctly?

I'd like to note that it took over 6 years to get the backyard cottage legislation. As a taxpayer I simply don't want electeds spending that much time on things like this. They weren't breaking any new territory. We already had a successful pilot. Very much micromanagement. I don't think we have money for that. We have a lot of land use decisions to make. We need people who can look at data, get some analysis done, and make decisions at something other than at a glacial pace. Because we have a fear of planning, no large visioning, a comprehensive plan that isn't and no term limits at city council, we get milquetoast.

OMFG, indeed.

Still can't believe that this happened on a council that supposedly values responsible forms of transportation.

So, how do we create a future where a tax that costs less than $100 a year for a business (and excludes folks that live sustainably) is not axed by a council that values "symbolism" (businesses are king) over budget reality? A budget reality where we're 72M in the red?

Well. I guess that's in the third-to-last paragraph...
