A Candle That Burns Twice As Bright…

…burns half as long.
Almost a year ago I wrote, “Pb Elemental is on fire. But will they go down in flames?” The candle may not be out, but it appears to be flickering: the newly renovated Pb Elemental HQ is up for sale.
There are those for whom the downfall of Pb is food for gloating. Not me. Though I don’t like all their stuff, overall I’ve been a fan because of how they gave Seattle architecture a much needed jolt of boldness — and they’ve gotten a pile of HAC ink: here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
There are Pb projects under construction and for sale sprinkled all over Seattle — worth many millions. Surprisingly, construction is still moving ahead on the Pb work loft project in my neighborhood. Perhaps the owners will end up OK if they can finish and sell off enough of their inventory. Like a candle in the wind…

This site was a lot more interesting when you were covering projects rather than telling us we’re all doomed!
Will be very sad if Pb Elemental goes under.
i dunno. it was all really iterative and got banal after the first few projects.
as a model, though, there is something to be learned.
Pb elemental architecture is alive and well, they are currently expanding beyond the pacific northwest as well as contiuning to grow (in number of projects ) in the region. The sister company lead construction as stated is busily finish and starting new projects throughout Seattle, look for more lead construction, pb designed homes than ever before in 2009 and 2010. Pb itself shifted away development over a year and a half ago, their focus is in larger scale design driven architecture, look for news in the coming months.
“look for more lead construction, pb designed homes than ever before in 2009 and 2010″
unless they bring down their pricepoints, wouldn’t they just be adding vacant units and carrying debt longer? wasn’t this part of the problem in the first place?
Wow Dell! Did you have a bullshit PR machine spin those words together for you or did you write them yourself. Sounds like a mashup from, oh, 2006. Try again!
yeah, sounds a little fishy dell. are they all working from home then? I imagine the only one still getting a check is the cfo

Worst PR statement ever. Try proofreading. I know the situation is bad at Pb but that kind of writing just makes things look worse. And worse, nobody believes the BS.
No building, just a few volunteer employees – whats left? couldn’t they at least remove me from the website? it’s bad enough to be layed-off, but being left on the web site so they can pretend they still have paid employees… nice.
